Day 1
Theme: Explore the Sacrament of Baptism
Virtue: Courage (to be brave; to face fear, danger or difficulties with strength in the Lord)
Action Song Videos:
Theme Song: Hike of My Life (2:55) Celebrate Jesus (2:52)
Theme Connections:
Hike of My Life is our VBS theme song of the week. This song reminds us that life is a great adventure with Jesus as we journey through the seven sacraments. Each of the sacraments gives life to our soul as we reach for our goal, which is Heaven. We can be courageous by having nothing to fear knowing that Jesus is always with us on the “Hike of our Life!”
Celebrate Jesus is a great song of joy to celebrate everything that Jesus has done and continues to do for us, especially in the gift of the sacraments. This song gives us excitement to explore each of the seven sacraments this week at our Cat.Chat VBS, starting with the sacrament of Baptism.
Day 2
Theme: Explore the Sacrament of the Eucharist
Virtue: Gratitude (an attitude of thankfulness; showing appreciation)
Action Song Videos:
The Ultimate One (2:29) G.O.D. (3:18)
Theme Connections:
The Ultimate One reminds us that Jesus is the Ultimate One! At Mass, we receive Jesus in the sacrament of the Eucharist and that is the ultimate gift we could ever receive!
G.O.D. (pronounced gee-oh-dee) talks about how we can live out God’s plan and purpose for our lives by putting Him first. This song is a great reminder to us that we would see a difference in our lives if we focused more at Mass and showed appreciation for the gift of Jesus in the Eucharist.
Day 3
Theme: Explore the Sacrament of Confirmation
Virtue: Perseverance (not giving up; keep trying with determination)
Action Song Videos:
I Love You Lord (1:55) Send Down Your Kingdom (2:57)
Theme Connections:
I Love You Lord talks about how we can stand firm in our faith and do what is right when we allow the Holy Spirit to live in us. Let us sing, dance and shout “I Love You Lord” in thanksgiving for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Send Down Your Kingdom invites the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts and renew our lives. It is a prayer of surrendering our lives to God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Day 4
Theme: Explore the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick
Virtue: Self Control (controlling your behavior; making sure your actions, thoughts, and words please God and others)
Action Song Videos:
River of Life (2:37) Change (3:17)
Theme Connections:
River of Life makes us think of the sacrament of Reconciliation where we let go of our sins to God and allow the Holy Spirit to flow into our hearts so we can be cleansed. This song also makes us think about the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick when the Lord allows his abundant graces to flow into the souls of those that are sick and dying.
Change reminds us of what happens to us in the sacrament of Reconciliation. When we confess our sins to God (through the priest), our hearts are changed and we become more like Jesus.
Day 5
Theme: Explore the Sacraments of Matrimony and Holy Orders
Virtue: Hope (to expect something good will happen; a confident expectation of good things to come)
Action Song Videos:
Jump In (3:35) The Mystery
Theme Connection:
Jump In reminds us that we need to pray to hear God’s voice each day. In prayer, God will speak to our hearts and show us His plan for our lives. One day, He may call some of you boys to become a priest and receive the sacrament of Holy Orders. Or perhaps, He may even call some of you boys and girls to the sacrament of Matrimony (Marriage). One thing we know for sure: God has a plan for each of our lives and that’s something to be excited about!
