Day 4 Opening Assembly
Welcome everyone to another great day of VBS! Let's start with an action song, and then I want to show you what I have in my wilderness backpack.
What songs did you learn yesterday? Let's see how well you can remember the actions.
Jesus, thank you for this week of VBS. Guide us as we learn more about the sacraments today, especially the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. Bless our day together. Amen.
SAINT OF THE DAY
Our Saint of the Day is St. Padre Pio (point to the poster). Let us ask him to pray for us. St. Padre Pio, pray for us.
I packed two different things in my wilderness backpack today because we are exploring two sacraments. Show binoculars.
Who can tell me what these things are? Binoculars.
Binoculars can help us take a much closer look at things. They remind us of the sacrament of Reconciliation, which is also called Confession. Before we receive this sacrament, we need to take a very close look at our life to see if we’ve sinned against God and against others.
Show First Aid Kit.
I also packed a First Aid Kit to remind us of the other sacrament of healing.
Can anyone tell me what this sacrament is called? Anointing of the Sick.
Usually a person who is really sick, dying or very old, will receive this sacrament of healing.
Our Bible Verse today comes from the Gospel of Mark.
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Mark 2:17
DISMISSAL TO STATIONS
Dismiss the children to their groups. The group leaders will lead the children to their appropriate station. Play the VBS music as kids are leaving.
