Theme: Explore the Sacrament of Confirmation

Virtue: Perseverance (not giving up; keep trying with determination)

HOLY SPIRIT CAMPFIRE

Theme Connection:

Campers build campfires when they are in the wilderness. Fire is a symbol and a beautiful image of the Holy Spirit because of its power and strength. We receive the power of the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of Confirmation. The Holy Spirit creates a burning love of God in our hearts.

You’ll need:

  • Grapes (5/child)
  • Pretzel sticks (8/child)
  • Chedder cheese (2 slices/child)
  • Small paper plates

Prep:

  • Cut cheese in small triangles.
  • Cut grapes in half.

Activity:

Build a campfire on your plate by placing the grapes in a circle as rocks, the pretzels as the wood (logs), and the cheese as the flames.

Enjoy your Holy Spirit Campfire!

  • Pre-bake pizza shells.
  • Wash and cut all fruit into bite size pieces.
  • Prepare the vanilla pudding and keep it refrigerated.

Activity:

  1. Spread vanilla pudding on your pizza slice.

You can also make mini fruit pizzas using shortbread cookies instead of pizza shells.

(Opt.) Tasty Teaching on the Trinity:

There are three different parts to an apple:

The outer peel

The actual fruit

The core (seeds)

An apple must have all three different parts for it to be considered an apple. You can’t have one without the other.

In a similar way, the Holy Trinity is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Three persons in one!

Each person of the Trinity is a separate individual, yet they all ‘work together’.

God the Father is the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Jesus is God’s one and only Son.

The Holy Spirit is a person, too. He is the Great Love between God the Father and God the Son.

Serve everyone apple slices with fruit dip.
