Cathletics Music Lesson Plans
Day 1
Theme: THE GAME PLAN: A focus on the Two Greatest Commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind... and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39)
Virtue: Excellence
Action Song Videos:
- Champion for Christ (2:29)
- King Of All (2:21)
Theme Connections:
Champion for Christ is our VBS theme song of the week. Every athlete needs a good coach. We are all on a race towards Heaven and Jesus is our coach. He is always with us and wants to help us on our journey to Heaven. He is the one who is going to bring us to our goal. It is important we focus on where we need to change and not compare ourselves to others in order to allow God’s word to transform us. We are all called to train in being Champions for Christ.
King of All reminds us that Jesus is the most powerful King. Jesus is strong, powerful and undefeated! Kings are like Champions and Jesus is the Greatest Champion! He is the one that helps us say NO to sin and YES to Him.

Day 2
Theme: KNOW THE RULES: Learning the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17)
Virtue: Prudence
Action Songs:
- Do What’s Right (2:08)
- Patience (2:29)
Theme Connections:
Do What’s Right encourages us to always make good choices and keep a positive attitude. Every moment of every day, it’s our choice to do what’s right or do what’s wrong. It is not always easy to stick to God’s rules and to follow Jesus, but it’s what we are called to do as Christians.
Patience is a song that teaches us how all great things take time. Patience takes practice. When we’re learning a new sport, it also takes practice. Be patient with yourself and with others. When we work at this a little bit every day, it will be worth it in every way.

Day 3
Theme: TRAINING HARD: Practicing the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12)
Virtue: Fortitude
Action Songs:
- Courageous (2:33)
- Rise Up (2:54)
Theme Connections:
Courageous is an upbeat song to remind us that we need God’s grace to do great and mighty things!“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) Athletes know that giving up will not help them reach their goals, so if we want to become saints, we need to remember to call on Jesus and NEVER GIVE UP!
Rise Up will inspire us to be true Champions for Christ: to be a witness of fortitude and strength, of love and friendship. You can make a difference by standing up for others and doing what is right!

Day 4
Theme: GAME ON: Living out the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
Virtue: Temperance
Action Songs:
- Fruits of the Spirit (2:26)
- I Will Win (2:45)
Theme Connections:
Fruits of the Spirit is a scripture memory song to help us remember the Bible verse from Galatians 5:22 and 23. Jesus wants to fill our hearts with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Just as athletes work hard and practice their skills to become better in their sports, so are we also to work hard and practice the fruits of the Spirit in our lives to become better Champions for Christ.
I Will Win reminds us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and His example. We need to be determined to say NO to sin and anything that tries to take us away from our goal! We’ll be able to win this race by practicing what Jesus taught us so well... self-control! We can practice self-control with our words, our thoughts, and our actions by asking God for His power!

Day 5
Theme: VICTORY! Becoming Champions for Christ.
Virtue: Justice
Action Songs:
- Spark My Heart (2:18)
- For Children Everywhere (2:57)
Theme Connections:
Spark My Heart is a song that unites us all as God’s children. People all over the world have been chosen to run this race. We need to hold our torches up high for all to see! Jesus is the light of the world! Let’s ask Jesus to “spark” our hearts so we can set the world ablaze with His love!
For Children Everywhere gives purpose to each of our lives! Everyone in this world has the mission to follow Christ and to share His kindness and justice with others! Jesus desires that we give whatever we can to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Christ.
