Day 4 Virtue Demo: FAITH
You’ll need:
- Balloon
Demonstrate:
Blow up the balloon into an average size.
Hold on to the end without releasing any air and without tying the end.
What’s inside this balloon? Air.
How do you know there’s air if you can’t see the air?
It’s what fills the balloon up, I saw you blow in it, etc.
Explain:
Isn’t it interesting how we can’t see the air, but we know it’s there. This is like our Faith in God!
We can’t see Him, but we know he’s there! Faith is believing in God, even though we can’t see Him with our eyes, and knowing that He is always there for us.
The Bible says: “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
We make choices everyday that allow our faith in God to grow or shrink.
How do we make our faith in God shrink/become less/disappear?
(By not going to church, by not praying, by not reading our Bible, by sinning, etc.)
Each time the children mention an example, let a bit of air out of the balloon.
How can we make our faith in God grow?
(Pray more, going to church, reading our Bible, obeying God, loving others, being patient, etc.)
Blow up the balloon a little more each time the children give an example. Avoid popping the balloon.
If the balloon were to pop, you can add: Some of the saints had such amazing faith in God, that their hearts exploded with love for God and others.
It’s our faith in God that blasts us toward to Heaven! Quickly release the balloon and watch it fly around!
Today, let’s try to remember the virtue of faith and ask God to help us grow in our faith in the Eucharist.
