Day 3 Virtue Demo: UNITY
You’ll need:
- Table (the heavier the better)
Demonstrate:
I need a volunteer to come up and help me. Choose a child.
Try your best to lift this whole table right off the ground. Child tries to lift the table.
That’s a pretty heavy table. Let’s give (name of child) a hand for trying!
(Name of child), do you think you could succeed if you had a little help? Yes.
Alright, I need another volunteer to come up and help. Second volunteer comes up.
Now both of you can try to lift this table off the ground together. They attempt.
Was it easier to lift the table that time? Yes.
Why? Because they had help, they weren’t alone, etc.
Bring up 3-5 more volunteers – depending on the heaviness of the table. Have them surround the table, place two fingers under the lip of the table and lift together on the count of three. Encourage big applause as they easily lift it. Thank the volunteers and have them sit down.
Explain:
This shows us that we are strongest when we are united together in our work. On our own, we may succeed for a while, but it’s much harder and eventually we will tire out. As Christians, Jesus wants us to be united with others in our spiritual work.
When we gather around the table of the Lord, our prayers and actions become one. By God’s grace, we strengthen each other. When we gather around the table of the Lord, we can move mountains together.
The Bible Says: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 Today, let’s try to see how united we can be, helping each other along the way.
