 Teaching: Conversations about Heaven

Have you ever wondered what it will be like in Heaven?

God wants us to wonder about our Heavenly Home.
In the Bible, St. Paul reminds us that Heaven is SO WONDERFUL that we can’t even imagine the beautiful things God has prepared for those who love Him. (1 Cor. 2:9)

Faith Teaching from The Great Journey With VBS

The very last book in the Bible, the book of Revelation, talks a lot about Heaven. (Revelation 21:4-7)
In Heaven, do you think there will be sadness and tears? NO
Will there be sickness and pain? NO
Will there be tiredness, stress and worry? NO
Will there be darkness? NO
Will there be death? NO
Will there be sin? NO
Will it be boring? NO
Heaven will be perfect!
It will be a place of all things great and wonderful.

Now, I want you all to close your eyes and keep them closed until I say you can open them.
(Opt.) Play soft instrumental music. Slowly share the following:

In heaven, there will be beautiful laughter and pure joy that will last forever and ever.
In heaven, you will feel completely safe and completely loved by God. There will be peace in heaven.
There will be hidden treasures and fun surprises. There will be magnificent bright lights and awesome places to visit. In heaven there will be the best and most delicious tasting food and the best sounds, smells and sights in heaven. Just imagine how glorious heaven will be.

Now, open your eyes.

What did heaven look like for you? Invite kids to share.

HOLY FRIENDS
One day in heaven, we will celebrate with Jesus and Mary and all the angels and saints and all those that have gone before us that loved God. Jesus wants you to have holy friends on your journey to heaven. He invites you to become friends with the saints: saints like Mary and Joseph, St. Peter, St. Nicholas, St. Josephine Bakhita and St. Mary Magdalene who have already made this journey with Jesus to heaven. All the Saints in heaven are cheering us on: They are saying, (name some of the children) “Go Lucy, Go! Go Sebastian, Go!”
We need to encourage one another in our journey of faith.
Look to the person next to you and say, “Pray for me (pause) that I may get to heaven someday.”

Let’s pray together: Dear Jesus, help me to live a holy life and follow the path that leads me to heaven.

All you Holy Angels and Saints, pray for me. Amen.
